Palay means “rice” in its full form in Tagalog. The company was born out of a mix of the founder’s experience growing up in the Philippines, understanding of growing opportunities in the carbon markets, career selling to F500 companies, and the burgeoning recognition that the world is not on-track to reach Net Zero by 2050. We built Palay initially, as a socially focused enterprise, modelled after organizations like the Grameen Foundation, Toms, and Bombas; all of which, are highly profitable while impacting larger social goals.
